WDIO/WIRT-TV featured the Duluth Bethel and its decades of work as part of a series of stories celebrating the station’s 50-year anniversary of serving the Twin Ports.
Reporter Justin Liles described how a charitable grant of $1,000 from the station helped finance renovations at the Bethel’s building that made it easier and more convenient for the Bethel to step up and host the Saturday night Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in Duluth. That meeting, one of the longest-running AA gatherings in the Twin Ports, had faced the prospect of ending after it lost its former meeting space.
Now, 80 to 100 people attend the 7 p.m. Saturday meeting in the Bethel’s large gymnasium, allowing them an opportunity to connect with each other, share their stories and hear stories of others who are living healthy lives in recovery.
The Bethel appreciates the grant for the renovations that have helped make this new location for the Saturday night meeting possible.
